Pins and Needles

Pins and needles is a symptom that falls under the medical umbrella term Paraesthesia, which simply means an altered sensation.

Symptoms of paraesthesia may commonly include: numbness, prickly feeling, hot/cold sensation or sharp pain. The cause of these weird/funny sensations occur when the nerve that supplies a part of the skin with sensation has its signal blocked. The blockage may come from inflammation around injured muscle pushing against the nerve or even a herniated/bulging disc in the spine. These symptoms can occur anywhere where a part of skin is being supplied by a nerve.

If your symptoms are accompanied by mild weakness then spinal manipulative therapy may help.
